The Vault

What is LegaSafe Vault?

LegaSafe Vault is a secure, private document and information storage vault. It can be as simple or as robust as you want to make it. Essentially, it is the standard operating procedures for your family when you can no longer run the family. Give your family the peace of mind that when you are gone, they can pick up where you left off. It securely holds your important documents, final wishes, personal messages for the people you love, and much more — before your family is left confused and searching for accounts and documents. Each plan level offers increasing value and peace of mind for your legacy planning.

What belongs in Important Documents?

You can store the papers your family would need: a will, a directive, insurance, property, accounts and personal letters. Your files are stored privately, and in the app only you and the people you choose can open them. We do not open customer files, and our admin tools cannot download them.

Do you store passwords or bank logins?

LegaSafe Vault is built to hold documents and notes, such as where an account is and who to call. We recommend you do not store passwords or full account numbers. Your files and notes are stored with AES-256 encryption, and in the app only you and the people you choose can open them.

Who holds the encryption keys?

Your files are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and travel over HTTPS. The keys are managed by our storage provider, not by you, so this is not zero-knowledge. We chose that on purpose: your family has to be able to open your papers after a reviewed death notice, and a key only you hold could be lost for good. The Security page explains the trade-off.

What happens if I already have a will with an attorney?

Keep the original where it is. In your vault, list where the wet-ink document is physically located, and if you wish, upload a .pdf or .jpg copy of it for reference. You can also annotate details in the notes, like: date signed, executor, beneficiaries, etc. This makes handling your affairs a lot easier for your family.

Authorized Access

Who can see my files?

Only people you give access to, and only to the sections you give access. Owners and co-owners see everything and can add or edit files. Everyone else is read-only on the sections you grant. A named keyholder does not see files while the vault is armed or in the waiting period. Personal Letters can be locked to a single email. Free includes one trusted person.

What is a death notice / release?

A named keyholder files a death notice with a matching name and date of birth, plus a certificate or obituary. That starts a 7-day waiting period. Nothing opens during the wait. You can abort it from email or while signed in. On Free, one keyholder and the wait are enough. If two or more keyholders are named, a second person (or a platform operator) must confirm — the person who filed cannot confirm their own notice. After release, only the documents you marked for that person become visible.

I was invited to someone else's vault. How do I switch?

Every account has a Switch Accounts button. At login it defaults to your personal vault (if you have one), and you can easily switch between vaults with the same login. How easy is that! Of course, files never mix between vaults; they are completely separated.

Can I revoke someone later?

Yes. Vault owners can approve or revoke access at any time.

Private and Personal Messages

Can I write a personal and private letter that only one person can open?

Yes, on Legacy Complete. Mark your message as Private, enter their email, and choose “Only this person,” and when Emergency Release is triggered, that letter goes directly to them. You have the option to allow other trusted people to see the letter…or not. You can also delay delivery to a specific date in the future. You get full control!

Can I hold a letter until a birthday or other date?

Yes. Each message has an option to send immediately after Emergency Release is triggered or to hold-until a certain date. Even after an emergency release, that letter stays sealed in the vault until the calendar day you picked — a 21st birthday, an anniversary, a graduation…whatever date you chose.

Will other trusted people see my private letters BEFORE emergency release?

No. Owners and co-owners can view and edit them. Everyone else waits.

Subscriptions: Plans, Gifts, and Referrals

What is included in each plan?

Free: will, important documents, and burial wishes — up to 3 documents and one Legacy Steward. Free holds the vault and can hand it to that person after a reviewed death notice and a 7-day pending release. Peace of Mind: 3 Legacy Stewards, and extra protection when you name two or more because a second person confirms before anything is released. New sections: Healthcare, Insurance, Property, Financial inventory and Digital life. 50 documents. Home Shield, Auto Care Pro and Family Organizer are available as discounted add-ons at $9.99 a year each. Legacy Complete: has it all! Personal Letters, up to 25 Legacy Stewards, the full guided setup (every plan gets a short version), the I’m OK check-in (check in on your schedule; after 3 missed check-ins, your vault releases in 7 days unless you cancel), Home Shield, Auto Care Pro and Family Organizer included, virtually unlimited documents, priority customer and technical support, and new sections as we add them at no extra charge.

Do you offer discount codes?

Yes. We periodically will release coupons for marketing campaigns and affiliate referrals. Just enter the code at checkout. Only one code can be applied per purchase.

Can I gift a subscription?

Absolutely! And that is highly encouraged, too. You can gift yearly and lifetime plans. See the Pricing page to see what levels are currently available. After your purchase, they will receive an email with a claim code. When they create an account with the same email, the plan automatically attaches to their vault. You can track all of your pending and claimed gifts from the Gift page in your account. They will Thank You and so will we!

How does Refer-a-Friend work?

Everyone gets a unique personal link and code. Send it…Share it. We track friends you sent, friends who joined, and friends who subscribed. You can see them on your Refer a friend page.

Can I cancel?

Yes. We would hate to see you go, but you may cancel your plan any time before the renewal date, and you will keep your access through the end of that period. Gifted subscriptions, however, are non-refundable once claimed, but are refundable for 14 days from date of purchase, if unclaimed.

Total Security

How is my data protected?

Your files and notes are stored with AES-256 encryption in private storage. Each vault belongs to its owner and the people the owner chooses. We do not open customer files, and our admin tools cannot download them. The encryption keys are managed by our storage provider, so this is not zero-knowledge encryption. We see your name, email address and plan, and we will never sell that information. You can close your vault at any time.

How do I sign in, and how do I get back in if I forget my password?

Sign in with your email and password, or with Google. If you forget your password, we email you a 6-digit code that works for 10 minutes. After five wrong tries the code stops working and you ask for a new one. You are signed out after 4 hours.

What if something happens and I never pressed Release?

On Free, the one person you named can file a death notice. After a 7-day wait you can cancel, the documents you marked for them are released. Peace of Mind and Legacy Complete let you name more people; with two or more, a second person confirms before anything is released.
