This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and how long we keep it. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

This is not legal advice. Have your own lawyer review these pages before you treat them as final.

1. Who we are

LegaSafe Vault is an online place to store copies of family documents and to name Legacy Stewards who may receive what you assign after a reviewed death notice and a waiting period you can cancel.

We are not a bank, law firm, medical provider, funeral home, or court. We are not your fiduciary. Nothing you put in the vault creates attorney-client, doctor-patient, or similar privilege with us.

2. Information we collect

You give us

  • Account: name, email, password (or Google sign-in), date of birth, phone if you add one
  • Vault content: documents you upload, notes, locations of paper originals, letters, contacts, funeral preferences, and similar records
  • People you invite: name, email, role, and what they may see
  • Death-notice details a Steward or emergency print card holder types (name, date of birth, certificate upload or link)
  • Messages you send to support
  • Interview answers on first login (stored for operators; not shown as vault cards)

We collect automatically

  • Device and browser type, pages viewed, approximate location from IP, cookies needed to keep you signed in
  • Billing events from Stripe (we do not store full card numbers)

We do not want

  • Do not treat the vault as a place for live passwords to other sites on the Free plan. Do not upload content you do not have the right to store.

3. How we use it

  • Run your account, vault, billing, and support
  • Send email and, if you confirmed texts, SMS (codes, release alerts, check-in on Legacy Complete)
  • Carry out a release you configured (7-day pending release, abort, then assigned files to Stewards)
  • Detect abuse, fix bugs, and keep the service up
  • Comply with law and valid legal process

We may use de-identified, aggregated counts (how many vaults, which modules are used) to improve the product. We do not sell your vault files.

4. Who can see vault files

  • You (the owner) and co-owners you name, until a release locks writes
  • Legacy Stewards, only the documents and timing you set (see now vs after release)
  • A person who opens an emergency print card link you printed, only to file a death notice — not to browse the vault
  • Operators (platform admin) may see account facts needed to run a death notice: name, email, phone, date of birth, notice status. Operators cannot download customer vault files in the ordinary course
  • Processors who host or send mail for us (see §6), under contract

We do not sell personal information.

5. Release, death notices, and after you are gone

If a Steward or emergency print card holder files a death notice, we notify you and start a 7-day pending release. You can abort if you are alive. When the wait ends, assigned grants become active and files lock for edits.

We keep the vault available so Stewards can do the job you gave them. Closing your login hides the vault from you; it does not immediately erase files (see Terms). Family access after death is a feature you turned on, not a surprise disclosure.

False notices are a serious misuse. We may record them, refuse service, and report them.

6. Processors (who helps us run the site)

Typical processors:

  • Supabase — accounts, database, file storage
  • Vercel — the website
  • Stripe — cards and subscriptions
  • Resend — email
  • Go High Level / our SMS path — texts if you opted in

They see only what they need to perform that job. Their own terms also apply to their systems.

7. Texts and email

If you confirm a mobile number, we may text login codes, release alerts, and (on Legacy Complete) check-in messages. Reply STOP to quit texts. Email from noreply@ or support@legasafevault.com. You can close the account to stop product mail; legal and security notices may still go to the address on file.

8. Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to make the site work. Session cookies expire on the schedule described in the product (currently four hours of signed-in time, then sign in again). We do not run a third-party ad network on the vault.

9. How long we keep it

  • Active accounts: while you use the service and as needed to provide it
  • Closed accounts: the vault is hidden, not erased, so we can restore a mistake for a limited time and so we are not destroying evidence of a release
  • Billing records: as tax and card-network rules require
  • Death-notice logs: as needed to show what we did and when

When we delete, backups may take additional time to age out.

10. Security (short)

Files sit on our processors with access limits and encryption in transit. This is not zero-knowledge: systems that run the product can, in principle, process file bytes. We are not HIPAA-certified and not SOC 2 certified as of this date. See the Security page.

No system is perfect. You are responsible for your password, your Stewards, and the emergency print card.

11. Children

The service is for adults. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Do not upload a child’s sensitive records unless you are the parent or legal guardian and it is lawful.

12. Your choices

  • Correct Profile name, email, phone, and date of birth
  • Change Stewards and what they see
  • Download copies of files you uploaded
  • Close the account (hides login; files stay stored — see Terms)
  • California and similar state rights: email support@legasafevault.com and ask. We will not discriminate against you for asking. We do not sell personal information as that term is used in those laws.

13. Changes

We will post a new date on this page when the policy changes. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
